Frequently asked questions
Ages, costs, locations, tryouts and policies. If your question isn't here, email chris@legitathletics.org.
What ages do you coach?
Lacrosse travel teams and Legit Academy are for players in grades 3 to 12. The Multi-Sport Summer Camp is for boys and girls ages 5 to 13, and the PLL Sixes League has divisions from 3rd grade up to adult.
How does a player join a travel team?
Travel teams are filled through tryouts or invitations. For the 2026-27 season, teams are invite only. Email Coach Ledge to ask about a spot or a supplemental tryout.
How much does it cost?
For 2026-27: Fall Academy is $300, Winter Academy $425, or $625 for both. A single winter tournament with its training block costs $500 to $900, the full tournament team is $1,900, and full-season participation is $2,825. Private lessons run $35 to $75 per player, and summer camp is $350 a week. Payment plans are offered at the end of registration.
Where do you practice?
Fall Academy, summer camp and the PLL Sixes League are at Tillicum Middle School in Bellevue. Winter Academy is at Natural Ball Player in Kirkland, and fall box lacrosse is at Arena Sports in Mill Creek. Travel team practice locations go out through the SportsEngine app.
How much of a commitment is a travel team?
More than our other programs. Travel teams practice, play tournaments and often travel outside Washington, and rosters favor players who commit to the full tournament schedule. Legit Academy and camps are more flexible and suit newer and younger players.
What if a Legit event conflicts with my high school or community team?
The hometown team comes first. We schedule around school and community seasons, and a player should never choose Legit over their hometown team.
Do players need a USA Lacrosse membership?
Yes. Each player needs their own current USA Lacrosse membership before registering, and you'll enter the membership number during registration.
Can I get a refund?
No. All fees, including tryouts, are non-refundable. Add Registration Insurance at checkout to protect your payment if your player can't take part because of illness, injury or something unexpected.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes. As a nonprofit we award partial scholarships based on need and available funds, and priority goes to multi-child families, single-parent homes and families receiving public assistance. Payment plans are also available. See the scholarships section for eligibility and the application.
Will my player get playing time?
At local tournaments every player should get at least 20 minutes. At regional tournaments everyone plays, though minutes may be limited. Playing time at national tournaments is not guaranteed.
Do you help with college recruiting?
Yes. Every player gets an NCSA recruiting account, and we help high school players with highlight reels, showcases and contacting college programs. Read more on our college recruitment page.
How do you handle safety?
Our coaches are trained through USA Lacrosse, players must wear proper equipment, and every family signs a HEADS UP concussion waiver at registration. We follow a clear plan for communicating injuries to families.
How can parents get involved?
Volunteer at events, become a team parent or help with team activities. Email us and we'll find a fit.
